In IISxpress 2.0 we introduced a Community version of the product. Indeed the version you downloaded will be the Community Edition, and unless you have entered a product key you are running under the Community License.
What are the limits on the license?
The Community License is designed to allow individuals, open source projects, students and charities to use IISxpress for free. The license does not cover installation and use of the product on a commercial or government web site, for the purposes of the license no distinction is made between Internet and intranet web servers. If you are a commercial or governmental organisation you may evaluate IISxpress for a fair trial period, after which if you decide to deploy IISxpress you must purchase the product in order to continue using it.
What isn’t in the Community Edition?
The Community Edition of IISxpress contains 100% of the full product functionality, there are no artificial performance limitations, no reduction of functionality, no spyware and no time limits. The Community Edition is the full product minus the right to use it on a commercial or government web site.
Why should I buy IISxpress when I can download it for free?
You should buy IISxpress in order to use it on a commercial or government web site in order to not violate the terms of the Community License. The money generated from sales of the product is directly invested in future versions allowing us to continue to improve and support the product.
